So i have a 1971 supper beetle convertible and i need to replace the part that comes in to the car that is connected to the heater box by a hose and actually enters in to the car its merely looks like a tunnel. I have a vw 1300s (GT beetle) I am wondering does anyone know what the parts #22 and #23 are, as shown above, called as I have a fresh air fan for a 1302 with the oblong drain hole but the drain hole tube that I have is the standard tube, so I was wondering if I got hold of parts #22 and #23 and turned it upside down it may well connect to the original tube. Put a WTB (want to buy) ad in The Samba Classifieds (General Parts. I know this post is old but I woild like to know of you have extra center vent, side vents, and the conecting hoses and if you do woild you be willing to sale them? Posted: Sat 3:03 am Post subject: fresh air/defroster parts If anybody else knows that this setup will not work in a 68, please let me know. I will have to pick me up a couple of those. Then I noticed the fresh air control parts are missing to connect it to the fresh air box. But I am sure that the fresh air/heat dual vent will work. The drain hose is for a different fresh air box. Posted: Tue 11:02 pm Post subject: These parts will still fit? Are these standard for a 68 and will they fit to the vents I already have? Sorry this is all kinda new to me and have spent hours looking for appropriate parts. So let's see, I need a four way distribution (that thing that looks like a small "y" with an extra line in the middle) and the fresh air/heat intake (in the picture it is the part next to the fresh air boxes)? Currently I have the connection that goes from the fresh air box to the vent, but it only has one hole for the fresh air, not the heat. There is only one hole in my left and right vent connection for the fresh air. Well then that means I have the wrong parts on my VW. Posted: Tue 8:21 pm Post subject: Which parts do I need? Stock Heat Exchangers w/ Tri-Mil Muffler The splitter on both sides in the trunk has the large diameter in from the hoses in "the black hole", and three smaller diameter out, one to the center vent, one to the side vent, and one to the bottom corner of the windshield. The right and left vents get heat and fresh air. The center vent in the dash only gets heat, no fresh air. If you look for the heating diagram for the 1970 you will see what I mean or if you have a diagram for a 1968 heating vents, that would be greatly appreciated. But I can't (also not sure if it is possible) find the fresh air connector that has two inlets (one for the heat and the other for the fresh air).Ĭonfusing yes, but once I figure out how to post a picture, I can do that. However I have seen from the 1970 VW Beetle set-up that it is possible to get heat to the middle defroster by putting in a three (or is it four way) splitter so that one goes to each part of the dash. My fresh air box is obviously in the middle and I have two hoses on each side connected to the middle vent (cannot get the fresh air controls from working properly, but that is another issue). I currently have a splitter on the right that directs the heat to the side of the windshield and one to the center (exact copy on the passenger side). I cannot seem to find a diagram that explains the parts for a 1968 regarding the setup of the defroster hoses. Posted: Tue 1:40 pm Post subject: Where to find heater parts 1968?
